Privacy policy

This page explains what Pilamed does with your information. We've tried to write it in plain language rather than legalese, because a privacy policy nobody can read isn't much of a policy.

1. Information We Collect

Most of what we hold, you gave us directly — when you set up an account, placed an order, joined our mailing list, or emailed our support team.

That usually amounts to:

  • Your name, email address, and phone number
  • Where we're billing and where we're shipping
  • Payment details, which go straight to our payment processor and never sit on our servers
  • What you've ordered from us before
  • Your IP address, browser, and device

Some information arrives without you typing anything. Visit the site and our analytics tools note which pages you opened, how long you stayed, what you clicked, which site sent you here, and roughly where in the world you are based on your IP address. This is the ordinary background data every commercial website collects.

2. How We Use It

Practically speaking, we use your information to run the business:

  • Getting your order picked, packed, and delivered
  • Sending confirmations and tracking updates
  • Answering your emails and managing your account
  • Spotting fraudulent orders before they cost either of us money
  • Working out which parts of the site are useful and which aren't
  • Meeting our tax, accounting, and other legal obligations

Marketing emails are a separate matter. We only send them if you asked us to, and every one has an unsubscribe link that actually works.

3. Who Else Sees It

We don't sell your data. We've never sold it, and we have no plans to start — there's no version of that arrangement that benefits you.

Some third parties do see parts of it, because we can't operate without them. Our payment processor handles the transaction. A shipping carrier needs your address to deliver the box. Our email platform sends the confirmation. Each of these companies is contractually bound to keep what they see confidential and use it only for the job we hired them to do.

Two other situations are worth naming. If Pilamed is ever sold or merges with another company, customer records would transfer as part of that deal, and we'd email you before it happened. And if a court order or a valid request from law enforcement compels disclosure, we'll comply — though we'll push back on anything that looks like a fishing expedition.

4. Cookies

Our site uses cookies. Four kinds, doing four different jobs:

  • Essential — without these your cart empties and you can't stay logged in
  • Analytics — these tell us which pages people actually use
  • Marketing — these are what make our ads follow you around the internet
  • Preference — these remember your settings so you don't reset them every visit

Your browser can refuse all of them. Do that and the site will still load, but parts of it — checkout in particular — may stop working properly.

5. How Long We Keep It

Order and transaction records stay with us for seven years. That isn't our preference; it's what tax and accounting rules require. Once that window closes, the records are deleted or stripped of anything that identifies you.

Everything else we hold only as long as there's a reason to.

6. Security

Everything you send us travels over an encrypted connection. Payments run through a processor certified to PCI DSS Level 1 — the strictest tier there is — and your full card number never touches our systems.

Here's the part most policies skip: no website is completely secure. Anyone who tells you otherwise is overselling. What we can promise is that we use current standards and take breaches seriously. If you think someone has got into your account, email support@pilamed.com straight away and we'll lock it down.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, some or all of these apply to you:

  • Ask for a copy of what we hold about you
  • Have anything wrong or out of date corrected
  • Have your data deleted, so far as the law lets us
  • Tell us to stop or limit how we process it
  • Receive your data in a format you can take elsewhere
  • Object to us using it for marketing
  • Withdraw consent you previously gave

One email to support@pilamed.com starts any of these. We'll come back to you inside 30 days, usually much sooner.

8. California Residents

California law gives you the right to know what we collect and why, to request deletion, and to opt out of the sale of your personal information. That third right costs you nothing to exercise here, since we don't sell personal information to anyone.

To make a CCPA request, write to support@pilamed.com.

9. Children

This is a store for medical professionals. It isn't aimed at anyone under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you're a parent who thinks your child has given us something, email support@pilamed.com and it'll be deleted.

10. Links to Other Sites

We sometimes link out — to a manufacturer, a carrier's tracking page, a regulatory resource. Once you click through, you're on their site under their rules. We have no control over what they collect and can't answer for it. Worth a glance at their policy before you hand over anything.

11. If You're Outside the United States

Pilamed operates from Florida, and that's where your information is stored and processed. Our site is available worldwide, so if you're ordering from elsewhere, your data crosses into the US when you use it. Placing an order means you're fine with that.

12. Changes

This policy will change over time — new tools, new regulations, new ways of doing things. When it does, the Effective Date at the top gets updated. Carrying on using the site after a change means you accept the revised version, so it's worth a look now and then.

13. Getting in Touch

Questions, concerns, or a request under Section 7 — all of it comes to the same place:
